I had hoped to get two sailings in this day, but on emerging from the entrance, it was apparent that the easterly was still affecting the swell heights more than my forecasting sites were suggesting, and that was with wind with tide. When the flood happened, and wind pushing against the tide, Easterly is one of our worst winds. Big rolling swells make for laborious rides with BIF1 out of the water as much as in the water. She is amazing in a big sea, but prefers to be driven hard through waves for a flatter journey. This does occasionally create a situation where she will leave one swell, and the next one is just beyond her reach, so she drops into the trough with a big slam and splash. A boat you really have to drive. We all love it. But we are all looking forward to pneumatic seating also...
With me on this sailing, Matt, Mikhail returning, Dan and Washington new recruits. Both got the concept of BIF1 quickly though. Dans casting was fixed in five minutes. Washingtons confidence there are fish in British seas, in ten minutes. Although it was not an easy time. The Easterly prohibited me from playing anywhere but close in and West side. Fish from the first drift. Indeed, it was the Matt show with him taking four fish on the trot. We found small fish with feeding birds. Indeed, from 16 landed, only 2 were for the table. Squid, well of course. I do recommend if people want a starter to go with their mains, they take two drops. That is all it takes. Wherever you are. Even in shallow water. Incredible. The flood tide bought the swell as I imagined, and I immediately cancelled the next sailing. Much better for Saturday and Sunday though.
