Just the one sailing, as lots now to be done ahead of leaving the country next Thursday. But a great crew with Max, Lee, Minh and Joel playing with me. With it being so late in the season, I really didnt think any bass would be viable, as the only reliable spot is only producing over the bottom of the tide, and we were fishing over the high tide. But we headed out to a few spots just on the shads to check. Not much other than a few whiting for our efforts.
On marking shoals of herring, we went on the white feathers , and instantly were rewarded. Some very plump ones again. And again, young Lee's eagle eyes kicked in. "why are all those birds over there?" Everyone in...
At the end of play, we had 28 herrings, and 29 bass boated. With just one bass creeping over the 42cm it does seem the better fish are offshore. But who cares. Light line lure fishing in sub 30 feet of water on the 29th December, just getting the tugs makes it all come together. And so ends 2024 for BIF1. Happy new year everyone. Dates are already going for end of March 2025, so please dont miss out. Although it is no kill time, there is often some very good fishing inshore this month, as everything kicks off once again, in the cycle of inshore life.
