Brighton inshore Fishing - Catch report 27th August 2024

Writer's picture: Robin HowardRobin Howard

Its all about change just now. The only thing not changing being the wind which has kept me in port far too long. Today also I lost all my planned sailings, but when the forecast showed the wind abruptly dying at 1700 I managed to drag a few regulars together for a very rare free trip to see if the squid are in any numbers yet.

Well, Lee, Kaz and Peter all did well to assist, and it turns out there are squid there in numbers. We managed 20 between us, but we were only single jigging as we were also hunting coddies on a shad on the bottom, which didnt show. But on a pure squid trip, we can expect to times those numbers by at least 3. And they are now on. If you are not in the cephalopod whatsapp group where these trips are organised, and love to use fresh squid for bait or for eating, then send a text with your name and the word SQUID to be added to the group, to 07970 112774 Squid will be here now until mid December, and any empty 3rd sailing between now and the end of September can be turned into a squid trip by demand
