With the wind falling good with the ebb tide, just the one actual sailing with clients today. I did have a little squid and codling poke around in a fairly bumpy wind against tide flood but nothing doing. With the ebb tide though, and being quite a small one, the wind being with it enhanced the drift, and created great plaice and herring conditions.

Nobody told the herrings though and yet, it didnt really matter as the plaice certainly played ball. With me, regulars Simon, Lee and Dave, plus Daichi, new to BIF1, and who not only was top rod, but also caught his very first UK fish. A good angler who I hope we see more of.

First drift, just as the tide changed direction, was the best one. We had six plaice, with four being keepers before I headed back up. We marked herring shoals also, and yet, they seemed to remain tight lipped today. A few moves bought us more quality plaice, until it was time to suggest a crack at the bass. Although we cannot kill until 1st April, this was still a popular suggestion, and we spent the last hour on them.

Only one landed, but we all had chances. Just a bit too rusty after a long lay off with BIF1. I expect tomorrows sailings we will try again, and with less breeze forecast, a slower drift through the ground they are currently holding on will hopefully yield more results with two sailings, all full, scheduled. Watch this space!!
