Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 17th April 2025

And so the frustrations continue. What had been planned as a three sailing day finally, was not, due to winds not being as forecast. It started well, with first sailing consisting of Max, Stewart, Brendon and Loz. Lovely flat seas and a gentle NE wind, consistent with the forecast. Fishing was somewhere between good and poor. Twelve bass were landed, which isnt tragic for a three hour fishing. Just two were for the table though. Banter was good and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. And then it was time for second sailing after a brief pitstop for breakfast. Joining me was Tom and his dad Gerald, JJ and David the double slayer. All regulars. Which was good as the fishing started off hard, and got worse with the wind and the swells. The only plus was a nice thornback ray which joined three bass in the "Stupid enough to eat a piece of rubber" club. Just one bass for the table, from the double slayer. It was not a double though... And an abandoned sailing as the waves kept getting bigger. The forecast Southerly 8-9mph was actually a SE 13-17 mph, and the difference is significant, especially on a flood tide. 3rd sailing also cancelled as a result. Very frustrating... The weekend also looks like a big pile of poo wind wise, with the wind not even having the decency to be an onshore wind that would at least enable some surf fishing with baits. All quite annoying.
