First sailing, and all nicely trained returnee's on board. Kate and Ryan, plus Mitch and Malley. Quite a big but nicely long swell running, with winds light and from the NW mostly. With tiny tides, lacking in co-efficient (yes... that's me trying to look clever. It simply means the strength of tide and is a feature of a good tide table) I of course downgraded their expectations. And yet, it actually turned out ok.
Took a few jumps around to find the better fishes, but takes are most certainly becoming more positive with far less fish dropping off than even just a couple of weeks ago, even on the 28gm Axia Mighty minnows. By the time the end of session noise emitted from my phone, 20 bass had been landed, with five killed for the table.
Next sailing I had a delightful family unit aboard. Deffo with a bit of a twist. Thomas, his girlfriend Dorri, and his son Fergus. The twist? Dorri was a confirmed fishaphobe, with a genuine fear of fish, but did not want to miss out on the experience with the guys. How brave is that?
The session actually worked in her favour. The fishing was very slow indeed. It took a lot of ground covered to find the only two bass landed, although happily they were both table fish, and both by Thomas. Fergus did catch a gurnard, and Dorri was delighted to not catch anything at all. How perfect is that.... ?
