It does look like we will be losing the majority of August to the wind. Looking forward to next week, just Wednesday first sailing is looking viable. Not what you expect at this time of year, but perhaps exactly what to expect going forwards. It is a shame, as any day I am expecting the cod to arrive. But if I cant sail, I wont be able to tell which day.
Just the one sailing today with a brisk SE wind forecast for the rest of it, as well as unbroken sunshine and blistering heat, which is never a good combination for fishing. And yet, first sailing, with regulars Max, Garry, Dave and Natalie aboard, was pretty good. It helps having experienced rods, but the fish are starting to hit the shads hard, a sign that the bait fish is now bigger and fish are hitting the shads with determination. This also helps the catch rate. Final tally twenty five landed, max 8 killed, and the biggest once again found its way to my rod... Its not like I do something different. It just happens...
